Louis Braquet Art
About

Louis Braquet is a New Orleans-based visual artist working primarily in acrylic, ink, charcoal, and graphite. An extremely active imagination coupled with a childhood reverence for his family's Renaissance art books and painting collection compelled him to begin drawing and painting at a young age. He began selling his artwork in the New Orleans French Quarter in 2003 while attending the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) in high school, and went on to receive a B.A. degree from the University of New Orleans in 2010. His work has since found gallery placement across North America, with his art also furnishing the covers of music albums and books alike.
Louis' painting techniques were primarily learned by copying renaissance masterworks, and his original compositions are informed by a devout study of literary topics including Jungian psychology, esoteric philosophy, anthropology, and world religious, cultural, and art history. Other hobbies of his include music composition, reading and writing poetry, weight lifting, bike riding, dream analysis, watching old films, feeding and "rescuing" stray/homeless cats, attending symphonies, and meditation.
